The History of Dean Ranch

The Historic Dean Ranch has been owned by the Dean family since the early 1900 ‘s and the Dean barn has been a historical icon for the area since the early 1920’s. The Dean family was a prominent registered Hereford breeder exhibiting cattle at Denver, Chicago and Fort Worth winning numerous prestigious awards. The Dean name was known throughout the industry as “The source of outstanding Hereford breeding stock”.

The Aledo area was on the Santa Fe rail line during the Depression and World War II and cattle were shipped, unloaded and moved out to graze the lush Bluestem grass growing on the surrounding hills. These
grassy hills produced many pounds of beef that fed the soldiers in World War II.

The area began attracting people to the area in the late 1980’s due to the scenic rolling hills and the rural environment. These same traits continue to attract people to the area coupled with an excellent school system which has achieved many academic awards and athletic championships.

 

This property is uniquely located adjacent to 1-20 and FM 1187. It is directly in the Western Fort Worth growth path. Truly the “Gate Way to the West” is one of the few remaining large undeveloped properties between Fort Worth and Weatherford. A tract of this size is not available East of the Brazos River some 40 miles West of Fort Worth.
